Meet Douro river and the North
Portugal was founded in the northern region and then stretched its territory towards the south. So no wonder some may say you have to know the north to know the country. It is quite a kaleidoscope of traditions, breathtaking natural landscapes, cultural novelty and, of course, tables set to make you never want to leave.
Douro river is, itself, a whole experience. For all the wine lovers in the world, this is a place you’ll hold forever in your hearts. Tasting the wines, of course, and the delicious food, is a must: but travelling by boat between those vineyard hills, visiting the wineries and listening to the stories behind the labels is a feast, too. Weddings in these settings are so classy!
And then you have all the other wonders going up: the wild horses at Gerês, the gorgeous paragliding sites of Mirandela, the beautiful city center of Guimarães, the temperamental beaches of Viana do Castelo (and its amazing sanctuary), the pre-historical engravings at Foz Côa, the castles (always the castles).
The only way is up!
