Trendelicious: Haute Couture

Today’s Trendelicious is a kind of “lessons from the catwalk” we took from the Haute Couture fashion shows during the Paris Fashion Week in late January. The Haute Couture collections and shows are extreme representations of tayloring and style, unattainable for common people, in many cases impossible to wear off the catwalk, but are audacious, make us dream, and sets the course from by which the fashion industry will flow the following months.

These collections are endless sources of inspiration, pure beauty essence from which will develop simpler but no less fantastic versions. This season the on that caught our attention as the most interesting collection considering the bridal universe was Giambattista Valli’s.

For this fabulous collection Giambattista Valli turned to the gardens of Paris for inspiration. As he told Vogue backstage, this collection “It’s kind of a thank-you to Paris. You know that flowers are my obsession. This time they come from the Parc de Bagatelle, the Jardin du Luxembourg, the Palais-Royal, and the Jardin des Tuileries.”

He presented flowers in various ways, a wonderful variety of bold silhouettes, several textures combined and played cleverly with layers. This collection left us sighing with joy. Isn’t that the feeling every bride wishes to have when looking at her own wedding dress?

Trendelicious: Destination Elopement

Even though it might be a big decision for some couples, it is growing trend to have a destination elopement. It is an incredibly romantic alternative to traditional weddings and you can have your wedding and your honeymoon at the same time. This is an option almost stress free and with couples  focusing mainly on themselves and their love vows. We believe that Portugal is the best place for it: a peaceful and sunny country, famous for its delicious food and hospitality, with an array of exquisite cities, rich heritage, wonderful beaches and diverse landscapes. Let’s also include talented and skilled wedding vendors ready to fulfill your every dream as they did to the couples featured in the selection below.

Trendelicious: Green

Spring is coming in Portugal. In the Northern hemisphere it’s the most exuberant of all seasons. Green is all over and it’s invigorating energy is contagious. That’s why we’re honoring nature by highlighting green as a bridal and wedding trend. Having a minimal green themed wedding where green leaves or green flowers arise as the main or only decorative element is one of the hottest trends for 2016.

Trendelicious: Destination Weddings in Portugal

Here at the office, we are in the final countdown to The Destination International Wedding Conference – Lisboa 2016. We are so focused in presenting our guest speakers and attendees with the best that Portugal has to offer that we have decided to give you, on today’s Trendelicious, our 5 reasons to choose Portugal as your wedding destination. Portugal is sunny, beautiful, peaceful and a welcoming country with the most perfect venues and 5 star vendors. Weddings in Portugal combine top quality within a very comfortable price range.

Our main goal with this website is to make you understand the strengths of Portugal as a top destination and inspired by this post by Fernanda Silva from Wedding Luxe, at Blog Colher de Chá Noivas, of Manoela César, we are sharing with you the 5 reasons why you should choose Portugal as your wedding destination. By the way, Fernanda and Manoela will be guest speakers at the Conference, along with  Liene Stevens, from Think Splendid, Esther Friedrich, from Belle & Chic and Naoise McNally, from One Fab Day.

1 Magnificent Weather

Portugal is one of the sunniest and warmest countries in Europe and you are able to have a superb sunny al fresco wedding like Eimear + Eoin. Even during autumn or winter, most days are sunny like this. Our Mediterranean climate is mild and warm only changing a bit if you head north. Rain rarely settles for long and you can even be lucky enough, as Madelenie + Oliver to have an outdoor wedding in a on and off rainy day.

2 Privileged Location

One of Portugal‘s main advantages for Destination Weddings is that it’s a very short and comfortable distance away from several countries in the world. This is quite important if your guests are coming from various parts of the globe as Ksyusha + Reto’s or Rasha + Ramy’s.

3 Exclusive Heritage

One of Portugal’s most appreciated treasures is its historic patrimony, well distributed all over the country. And there are quite a few dream places completely adapted to welcome you, like Palácio Marquês de Fronteira or Bussaco Palace Hotel.

In Portugal you can opt for sophisticated or casual beach weddings.

5 Top Hospitality

Portugal is a peaceful and welcoming country. Portuguese are known for their hospitality skills and our tourism offer has been growing greatly. Nowadays, all over our country you can find a refined mixture of modern commodities that simultaneously preserve and enhance tradition, historical heritage and natural beauty. Our country is among the most preferred and visited in the world and Portugal, Lisboa e Porto have been hugely highlighted by foreign press.

Trendelicious: 3D Flowers

Flowers are an essential part of the bridal imaginary. Since ancient times they’ve been used on this day of celebration for many different reasons, both practical and symbolic. Commonly used in the bouquet, they appear, sometimes, in small decorative details on the hair or on the dress.

Today’s Trendelicious is about flowers: 3D flowers in wedding gowns. A sculptural trend reminiscent of paper cutouts or even origami. We’ve selected some rich and different approaches to it. Some gentler other more intense but all of which accentuate, in their own way, the romantic dimension of a wedding gown.

The minimalist aesthetics of Angel Sanchez, where small white flowers are applied on white or over the transparent bodice in repetitive and orderly manner, the theatrical aesthetics of  Krikor Jabotian with complex and expressive textile sculptures, and the chic craft aesthetics of Yolan Cris who masters the art of merging tradition with innovation. We bet that the hardest part will be to chose a favorite after you take a good look at them!

Trendelicious: Vintage Cars

Vintage inspiration is one of the major, growing and transversal trends. It is said to be one of the top trends on themed weddings these days. We have already showed you two great examples of vintage themed real weddings, one inspired by the 20s and one inspired by the 50s of the 20th century. But today we are going to focus our attention on vintage cars. We believe that everyone has a secret crush on vintage cars and our wedding day is a perfect one to enjoy the retro ride. Wether on traditional or modern weddings it is one of the favorite accessories for brides and grooms. It adds glamour and grandeur to the occasion. It is so popular that one may think it is, nowadays, more like a tradition than a trend… what do you think?

Trendelicious: Think Chocolate

Chocolate is, certainly one of the most loved flavors in the world. However, it may be one of the last options when one thinks of a wedding cake, right? More a less like the dress, everyone thinks first of pure white or similar hues for the cake, right?
Nowadays, the trend of naked cakes has been setting aside the usual very structured and frosted to perfection texture of cakes, but white is still leaving its mark.

With the suggestions we bring you today we dare to think chocolate, and mainly chocolate, for the whole cake, inside and out. We hope to inspire you to be unique and uber chic.

Trendelicious, according to…

Starting today, and once in a while, we will have a Trendelicious special segment called “Trendelicious, according to…”

In the same spirit of Trendelicious, we will show you which trends some of the most prestigious Portuguese wedding vendors are anticipating. We will start with talented fashion designer Pureza Mello Breyner whose remarkable, one of a kind, wedding gowns are carefully handmade and customized to the perfect fit for each one of her clients. Pureza’s vision for the 2016 bride is: bold silhouettes, fluid materials, transparencies, long skirts with a bit of a train, cropped tops, and bared backs, for a bride who is romantic and delicate yet confident and determined.
