Cats and sardines, luso-spanish love

Como Branco did it again: styled the perfect destination wedding! Featuring cats from Madrid and sardines from Lisbon, Helena’s and Manuel’s wedding brings out the best of our country and “nuestros hermanos” country. The bride and groom said “I do” in the Jeronimos’ Monastery, before heading up to Tapada da Ajuda for a party that will “live” forever in the minds of those who were there. Como Branco was and today shares with us how it all went.

But before we are dazzled by the photos Jesús Caballero shot, Marta Sousa (from Como Branco) tells us a little bit more about the couple and their very traditional wedding: “Helena’s and Manuel’s wedding united two different cultures and languages. The mesmerizing Jeronimos’ Monastery was the stage of the most important day in the lives of the young couple. Apart from lunch and party in Tapada de Ajuda, the bride and groom invited their families and friends for a cocktail the day before the wedding. Currently living in Spain, they elected symbols that could represent their birth cities – Madrid for Helena and Lisbon for Manuel. So that if they chose Lisbon for their wedding, both cities would still be present at every moment and in every styling detail. The black cats we usually see in rooftops in Madrid paired up with the sardines we associate with Lisbon for a sober and elegant stationary. Black and white were the main colors, complemented here and there with green, grey and yellow.

Sonia + Fred, a beautiful wedding by the sea

Sonia + Fred got married in a grey and rainy day, in Guincho, Cascais. Here in Portugal we have a say for the month of April, “Abril, águas mil!”, which means something like “when it rains, it pours”…

Well, that didn´t stop them from enjoying a perfect day or from having the most beautiful wedding pictures, as you will see.

They chose a venue on the road to Guincho, the restaurant Arriba, with a panoramic view over the roaring sea, to celebrate their love with family and friends, that came from all over the world.

They didn’t want a themed wedding but a cosy and romantic atmosphere, full of details dear to both of them.

Something Borrowed did a great job, getting inspiration in the blue of the portuguese tiles, the miniature olive trees and light decoration, providing a sweet and very relaxed ambiance.

As a special treat, each guest had a delicate origami at their seat, with a personal message from the bride and groom.

Sweet!

I wonder if Sonia’s dress is from the french designer Laure de Sagazan, it’s so gorgeous…!
