Rita + Bruno, love’s glow

Today we bring you an adorable and sweet vineyard wedding in the outskirts of Lisbon, at the enchanting Quinta de Sant’ana. It is a family run wine estate dedicated to three activities: producing authentic and characterful wines, hosting guests in four charming holiday houses and organising tailor-made events for an international clientele. Its bright yellow painted walls, well kept gardens and botanicals are the perfect scenario for a summer outdoor wedding like Rita + Bruno’s.

Rita + Bruno wished for a simple, casual, small town like fair ambiance, where familly and friends could mingle and have a great time. To do so they opted for natural flowers, colorful pennant banners for decorations and a small marching band for entertainement.

The result was so unique, charming and well documented by Hugo Coelho, The Destination Selected Vendor. He made a remarkable set of memorable images that will make you dream of a vineyard wedding in Portugal. Enjoy!

The Douro unique charm, by Lounge fotografia

As promised, here is the style shoot from an exclusively Portuguese team, which was highlighted in the prestigious Style Me Pretty. Luis and Marta, of Lounge Fotografia, The Destination selected vendor, have put together a photoshoot, along with a group of other Portuguese wedding experts, with the intention of revealing and sharing the unique charm of the Douro banks. Formed by valleys of 2 000 years old historic vineyards, these banks are a one of a kind setting, recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage. The original light created by the symbiosis between the river and the vineyards is superb. The colors are naturally intense and the light breeze embraces us deeply. Join us in this inspirational photoshoot and start imagining your destination wedding there.

Nina + Rafael, from Frankfurt to the Douro Valley

Today we bring you the portuguese destination wedding of Nina and Rafael. A couple from Frankfurt that planned their wedding in the Douro Valley. They wanted to appreciate our good climate, wine and food. Nina is Bulgarian and Rafael is a Portuguese born in Germany. The marriage took place at Quinta da Pacheca, a luxurious and charming Wine House and Hotel in Lamego, surrounded by vineyards. It was photographed by the sensitive lens of the duo Menino Conhece Menina, The Destination selected vendor.  The bride and groom wanted to show their international guests – Germany, Bulgaria, UK, Japan, Poland, Marícias, Italy and Canada – the splendor of Portugal. Throughout the celebration typical details emphasized the essence of Portugal. The seasonal flowers were chosen from local suppliers, all catering was traditionally Portuguese and guests were offered a Portuguese piece to take back home. Invitations and menus were inspired by Portuguese embroidery, placeholders were ceramic sardines with the names of the guests on it, and there was a performance of a group of traditional dances during the party. In a relaxed atmosphere, where blue and white accents stood out, family and friends celebrated the love of this couple, enjoying genuinely Portuguese wine and food.

Nina and Rafael highlight a particular detail from the wedding: the wedding car – Opel Ascona 1976. This car was the wedding car of Rafael’s parents and using it was a warm way to honor the memory of his father. Now, when reflecting on their experience of planning their wedding in portugal they told us it was an:

“Absolute success without compromise, we’ve enjoyed the whole year of preparation, each single detail in the process of organizing the event. But we were lucky to have such professional teams around us who made it possible to implement our dreams and ideas.”

To have and to hold

Here’s to happy days and happy families! In the video that Happy Together shares with us today we are invited to Vanessa and Leonel wedding day, also the day of Gustavo’s christening.

«When they tolds us the wedding would take place in Gradil, right in Quinta de Sant’ana, we were super excited. It’s one of our favorite places. It was such a beautiful wedding», tells us Raquel Dionísio.

Quinta de Sant’ana is one of the best wedding venues in Portugal and is at its best in this video, wooing us with its charm and its fabulous wine tastings. Getting married in Mafra can be a dream come true, specially because Tapada de Mafra and its amazing gardens are so close by.

Is the New York Times in love with Alentejo? We know we are…

A writer for the New York Times, Eli Gotlieb, was in Portugal visiting a friend and reports back on the wonders of our contry in an article that has just reached the internet. It looks like he fell absolutely in love with Alentejo, its landscape, its cuisine and its wine. And why wouldn’t he? Five days was all it took to charm the New Yorker!

What has he to say about the wine tasting sessions? «One of the great culinary transports of my life.» About our cuisine? «Portuguese cooking works through a process of concentration of essential tastes bolstered by fresh ingredients rather than as, in more wealthy cultures, a multiple layering of flavor profiles. Arroz de pato is a classic example of this magnification-through-reduction.» About Alentejo? A «land finely aged like wine».

All good reasons to have a Destination Wedding in Alentejo, wouldn’t you agree?

The Ultimate Restaurant Guide: L’AND Vineyards made it to the top 50

It’s no news for us that, as a wine resort, L’AND Vineyards was already amongst the best in the word. But apparently that is also true for its cuisine. At least that seems to be the opinion of the Brazilian magazine Casa Vogue. In an article that selects the 50 best restaurants in the world, L’AND Vineyards’ is in the 21st place: “for its décor, its architecture, its landscape and, of course, its flavors. It has been a very good year time for the restaurant, since last year chef Miguel Laffan won his first (very much earned) Michelin star.

The Portuguese restaurant is in this race for the ultimate restaurant guide next to a few of the most respected restaurants in the world, like Bodega 1900 in Barcelona, Ecletic in paris, Lasai in Rio de Janeiro ou Narcissa in New York.
With is perfect vineyards, its exclusive wines and its unique cuisine, L’AND Vineyards it’s the perfect spot for a wedding in Alentejo. How about booking a ticket for Montemor-o Novo for a vineyard wedding?

On ADORO’s happy year: once upon a time in 2014

2014 was a very good year for ADORO. With the talent we already grew so accostumed to, Sofia and Carla were busy bees running around the entire country shooting everlasting smiles. Beach weddings, vineyards weddings, rustic weddings, you will find a “wee” little bit of everything in this beautiful review of their very happy year. Get inspired!

«We got to be in several weddings, organized and photographed by ADORO, so many happy days. Winter days, spring days, grey summer days (september, what a month!) and hot autumn days. We were in the country, in the city, with our feet in the sand, next to swimming pools, in castles and inside monuments. We were accomplices to so many beautiful couples and had a few surprises, shared in tears of joy and went from very very hot days to very very rainy days. It’s so hard to sum up an amazing year in just a few images, but we so love seeing them together. Shall we do it again?»
