You simply can’t get any more Portuguese than Sónia + Diogo’s wedding! After meeting at Lisbon’s most popular festivity – Saint Anthony in June – they never left each other’s side again. And it was only fitting that their wedding would be inspired by one of Portugal’s most typical and traditional celebrations: from the graphic design to the décor, from the mood to the food, everything literally has Portugal and fun written all over it! Let’s get this party started?!
Hip hip hooray for Portugal!

Today is a national holiday and we are enjoying a long weekend, as Monday is also a holiday in Lisbon and street parties are popping up in every corner: June is the month to have fun!
To top up this week, we bring you a bit of the beautiful Algarve, with the wedding of Kristina + Gregório, at Villa Casa do Campo, in Quarteira.
The great Gatsby was the source of inspiration for this electrifying party, full of emotion. As usual, the result is an international gathering, many languages spoken (this was a French-Estonian love affair!), vodka toasting and lots of traditional singing…
Let’s party, then!
The beautiful video was shot by duo Maria Imaginária.
Have a great weekend!
Countdown for summertime!
Let’s wrap up this week with the fun wedding of Sandra + Filipe, up north, in Penafiel.
Sandra is the half of Cara Lavada Design, a small and very cute event company, so she was on her turf, designing her own perfect wedding.
Friends and family (and her barber groom!) got together for this celebration: everyone got up early in the morning to set up the most beautiful day for this couple, with lots of creativity flowing and a perfect result!
Cocktails, traditional games, vintage ambience… you name it, they had it all – totally fun and tasteful!
Check out the video recorded by duo FullCut Wedding Films!
Have a great weekend!
Once upon a time, in a land far away…
… a beautiful Christmas inspired wedding was dreamt and made possible by a group of talented Portuguese vendors.
It all started on Fernandina’s head, of In Folio, who, along with Five Photography, took the creative direction. The main idea was to build a warm Christmas mood and feeling, without all the usual clichés of the season, but still incorporating rich reds and golds from the inspiration mood board: illuminated manuscripts of the Middle Ages, where gold is the protagonist along with vibrant colors.
For this session they invited a dream team of vendors and presented us a stunning and flawless set of images. Hoping you will be ultra inspired by it, we take the opportunity to wish you all Merry Christmas from the The Destination team.

Today we bring you the sweet, multi-theme, destination wedding of Laura and Conor, held in Alvor, in the Algarve and superbly photographed by Ana Parker . Conor is from Killarney in Ireland and Laura is from Gloucester in the UK. Both from the countryside they ended up meeting in London, 4 years ago, on a dating site for music lovers, called Tastebuds. After getting engaged they started planning a wedding in Portugal which they wished would be a true reflection of themselves. For that they relied on the expertise of Unique and Chic Weddings. They love Portugal for its coastline (they’re both into watersports), the weather and seafood. They love the 40s/50s style, music, casual brides and grooms, converse, graphic novels, and a bit of heavy metal (keep this in mind when you see their wedding cake!). Along with the wedding planners they planned a wedding with a bit of all those things and most of their inspiration came from pinterest.
Taking advantage of the natural beauty of the setting, which they describe as “James Bondesque”, they succeeded in having an intimate and cozy wedding. The ceremony was at a cliff over the sea and the party was, al fresco, at the beach restaurant, Caniço. The mood of the entire day was relaxed and allowed each guest to feel welcome and cherished. Inspite being their special day, Laura and Conor managed to create an ambience where guests felt as special as the newlyweds. Having opted for a mini wedding in Portugal when they went back to London, were they met and live, they had a big party with their friends. They asked for vinyl records as gifts so they could start a personalised record collection because one of their wedding gifts had been a record player.
